Hotel reservations and pre-registration

Hope everyone’s Thanksgiving was a good one – mine was good, except for having to be in Las Vegas for VA stuff the day before and driving home after eating an early Thanksgiving dinner. After that, I spent most of the following week fighting off a savage cold and an infestation of S. aureus that is trying to eat my leg and kill me, for which I am going to be on doxycycline for the next week and a half, avoiding the sunlight because of the doxycycline, and swilling bowls of chicken soup.

At this point, we have most of the things done that can be done, which considering the time of year and how scattered we are is actually saying quite a bit. The contract with the hotel is signed, and the room registration window is open until June 18, 2024. You can either reserve rooms with this link or call the hotel at 1-800-634-6575 between 0800-2200 Monday through Friday, and 0500-2200 Saturdays and Sundays (all times Pacific). Room rates are $50 for Thursday night (July 18) $115 for Friday night (July 19) $120 for Saturday night (July 20) and $50 for Sunday and Monday nights (July 21-22) for people who want to stick around and do some sightseeing or catch a cheaper flight out of town on Tuesday. The rates do not include the 13% Clark County tax or $25/day resort fee, which pays for amenities such as free parking, pool & fitness admission, two bottles of water, and local/800 calls from your room. Folks who were with us this year at the Best Western Henderson on St. Rose will note that even with tax and resort fees, this is a MUCH lower rate.

If you are NOT a guest at the Plaza, parking rates can be up to $10/day on weekdays and $25/day on weekends.

What with Christmas coming up, I don’t expect people to be beating down the door to send in memberships, but if you, like me, have a very small list of gift recipients, feel free to ante up. Pre-registration is $40 ($35 for veterans and N3F members, which should be all of you who showed up last year) for attending, $20 for supporting, $50 for artists and vendors, and $100 if you want a sponsoring membership. Perks for sponsors TBA, but we’ll definitely think of something. This PayPal link, unlike previous links, should work. There will be a Zelle link coming soon for those of you that abhor PayPal, and of course you can always send checks and money orders to Friends of Fission-chan at PO Box 143, Tonopah NV 89049.

Last but not least, we have OG Son of Silvercon T-shirts available if you didn’t pick one up or want extras. They’re $20 apiece; please specify your size when you order.

  1. We still need a mailing list. sonofsilvercon.com an sonofsilvercon.org are both available.

While I’m not the right person to manage a website, I am a good person to manage a domain and mailing list if you want.

  2. I’m going to be sending out a mass e-mail to people this weekend. We’ve already got two websites and a Discord server. and I’m reluctant to divide my attention any further, but thank you for the offer.
