I had thought about promoting the con at Balticon, where I spent the Memorial Day weekend, but after my experience there I decided not to bother since not too many fans are insane like me and prone to cross the continent to attend an SF convention. I had the excuse of seeing friends in the area, if not at the con. Tl;dr: Caitlin Walsh’s cartoon sums up the experience.
There’s been some confusion about the hotel, which is totally my fault since I forgot that there are two Best Western Plus hotels in Henderson. Ours is the one on Boulder Highway, up the street from the WalMart.
Best news is that we finally got a price quote back from the printer! T-shirts are now available for $20 (no extra charge for large sizes) and are available in all sizes from S-5XL. We will have some available at the convention but I cannot guarantee what sizes we’ll have left, so it’s best to pre-order. Here’s a look at the design, which is based on art from our Guest of Honor!
This casual hotel in a low-rise building is 3 miles from sports and entertainment at the Sam Boyd Stadium, and 12 miles from nightlife and casinos on the Las Vegas Strip.
Warm, modern rooms offer free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs, plus coffeemakers, microwaves and minifridges. Suites add wet bars and separate living rooms; some provide whirlpool tubs.
Amenities include free parking and hot breakfast, plus an outdoor pool and a fitness center. There’s also a bar, a lounge and meeting space. (That’s from the official hotel blurb so it’s going to be restaurants for chow which will be driving because you don’t want to walk along Boulder Highway IMO)
Fortunately there are a number of decent restaurants close by, and there’s always delivery.
